I have a fear of people touching my feet.

I don’t know when or how the fear of people touching my feet developed, but it is something that makes me extremely uncomfortable. I don’t like touching other people’s feet either. The way I see it, feet are meant for shoes and the ground, not hands. I tried to face this fear this week and went to get a pedicure at the local nail salon in Denton called, “Impressions”. I sat down in the chair and put my foot up on the ladies lap like she told me to do, then she touched my foot and I flipped out. We tried this a few more times and I ended up not being able to go through with it. Yes, my fear is that bad. I don’t know why it makes me so uncomfortable. I have heard that pedicures feel amazing and wish that I could actually go through with it and get one, but I honestly don’t think that will ever happen. I felt bad because I was just wasting the woman’s time. I still paid her, but felt bad for freaking out on her. She wasn’t upset and just laughed at me. She said she had never seen someone that was that uncomfortable with having their feet touched. She asked me why I had come in to get a pedicure if I didn’t like my feet being touched and I explained that I was doing it for an assignment. She then laughed harder because I explained that we were supposed to actually go through with what we had chosen to do, but mine had taken a different turn. I will never make another appointment to try and get a pedicure. I think I did pretty good to actually go in there and give it a try and I think it shows that I’m not scared to try and faces my fears or things that make me feel uncomfortable. There are just things that I can’t change about me.
